The Journey Begins

Indeed. The journey begins. I never thought I would get a blog started. Honestly I don’t know how long I’ll have this going (knowing me, probably 3 days).

I guess I’ve always had this urge to take words from my head and put them on paper. I remember writing down match reports after cricket games with friends; I used to try to imitate the sports reports I read in the newspaper. I’ve also had a diary of sorts though I made entries intermittently. I even won first prize in creative writing back when I was in seventh standard (I took “inspiration” from a Goosebumps book I read which I borrowed from the school library).
What really got me to start writing was when my cousin, Jinson, gave me a couple nudges to start, first for our church’s website and then on a blog. When my friend, Glen, found out that I wanted to start a blog, he had an exasperated look that screamed “Why haven’t you started a blog yet?”(encouragement of a different nature).

A lot of inspiration came from other bloggers, perhaps unsurprisingly. One of those bloggers is Tim Challies, whose website I visit regularly, mainly for the content he puts out on the Christian faith. He posted an article back in the beginning of the year in which he gave reasons why bloggers should continue blogging or why one should consider starting. This article invited a whole lot of other bloggers to comment on what he had to say.

Through this discussion, I discovered several other bloggers, and of one those bloggers was Jen Oshman. She wrote an article where she says that writing is about stewardship, stewardship of the ability that God has given for the good of others.
It reminded me of 1 Peter 4:10 which says something similar “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace”. Although “gifts” here refers to spiritual gifts, it is safe to say the same about talents and abilities, for all talents and abilities come from God and hence should be used to glorify God by serving others.

I would like to think of what I post here as my way of stewarding God’s varied grace to me. As words take shape to form sentences and sentences are woven into paragraphs, I hope that this really does help you, the reader and me, to make much of God through Jesus Christ.
